As part of lifeIMAGE 5.0, the newest evolution of the lifeIMAGE platform, we now support Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) integration as a part of our interoperability ecosystem. This allows us to enhance our customers’ capabilities to connect imaging data across disparate systems.
FHIR facilitates a standard way to query into the lifeIMAGE exchange platform to retrieve information about exams passing through our network that can be coupled with additional patient specific data from third party systems. In addition, it allows third party systems to exchange data with us, enhancing existing lifeIMAGE workflows and introducing the possibility of positioning unique workflows with deeper clinical context across our customers’ care delivery process in acute, non-acute and inpatient settings.
Our support for FHIR allows our customers to reduce the complexity of their integration footprint and the technical debt of maintaining non-standard, point-to-point connections. It expands clinical and operational value of existing patient delivery processes and exposes context-specific evidence to improve decision making.
lifeIMAGE is leveraging FHIR capabilities by providing our customers the ability to enrich their existing workflows with patient data in context with image data and enable new workflows that were previously not possible. By having access to prior exams, coupled with a comprehensive metadata across the care delivery process, it reduces the clinical and economic burden of generating the right evidence, at the right time, for the right patient.
FHIR continues to be a strategic focus to support our expanding partner ecosystem and is a critical capability for bringing a converged set of best-of-breed solutions to our customers in a sustainable and scalable way. lifeIMAGE is committed to maturing clinical evidence for better outcomes and reducing costs. We will continue to work with all of our customers to evolve their workflows with the use of FHIR, as well as other HIT standards.
